The 3rd Colne Valley Food Festival and the Launch of Totally Locally Slaithwaite
Well, this was September 9th in sunny Slaithwaite!
The Colne Valley Food festival took over the round car park and offered an amazing selection of hot and cold food - all grown, made and supplied by businesses within 8 miles of Slaithwaite. Carr Lane was closed to traffic at 6am and given over to "Totally Locally Slaithwaite" businesses to showcase what can be bought in the village - from arts and crafts to petfoods, from clothing and jewellery to flowers, as well as local services such as plumbing, locksmiths and printing... and of course more food and drink. It was great to see so many of our shops opening up for the event, along Carr Lane and Britannia Road, a chance to pop into that shop you just never got round to. Great music and entertainment from local bands, singers and the Black Belt Academy made it worth staying even longer.
Was it the glorious weather or was it the idea of supporting local shopping that brought so many people out? Or maybe just a bit of curiousity to see what this 'Totally Locally' thing is all about? In any case, it was a great day... we'd say THANKS to everyone for supporting us.... as we look towards the possibility of a Christmas market....
