Christmas at the Green Valley Grocer
First of all, a HUGE THANKYOU to everyone who supported the Totally Slaithwaite Christmas market. It was fabulous to see all our Slaithwaite shopkeepers and stallholders showing the vast array of goods that are produced and can be bought right here in the village. At the GVG we had a marvellous day, our staff team pulled out all the stops with their Panto costumes, led by Carol in true style. Pure North's mulled cider flew off our stall, alongside Empire Brewery's mulled wine and local beer. Jane's own stall was a roaring success, selling her now-famous 'Homemade in Slaithwaite' cakes, puddings and best-selling GVG treats. The Slaithwaite brass band just outside the shop was a joy to hear.
And now Christmas week is upon us...
There is still time to pick up a GVG order form from the shop for a fruit and veg box, you can still order fresh fish/seafood or a cheese selection, we still have plenty of 'stocking fillers' including local, hand-made Deco chocolate. We can even put together a Christmas food hamper with items of your choice from our range - as big or as small as you like. You can still order a 'Homemade in Slaithwaite' Christmas cake or pudding, pop in and speak to Jane if you'd like a 'customised' bake. Let us know by phone, email or in person before Friday 21st.
The GVG will be open normal hours on Friday and Saturday this coming week, and will be open on SUNDAY 23rd (this is a one-off!) from 10am til 2pm to collect your order or shop for yourself. On Christmas Eve Monday, we will be open from 8am until 3.30pm, then we will be retiring to the Commercial for a well-earned celebratory drink, as per tradition.
The GVG will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then be open on Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and New Year's Eve Monday, closed New Year's Day Tuesday and back to work on Wednesday 2nd January.
We would like to say a Merry Christmas to all our customers, members and supporters from all of us at the GVG. Here's to 2013!
