Today at the shop.....
........... it was sooooo cold again. Mr Longley Farm driver came and my hands nearly froze putting the yoghurts away!! We did manage to grab some buttermilk this week though so it wasn't all bad news!!
A delivery of Patchwork pates (http://www.patchwork-pate.co.uk/home.php) arrived with the new addition of a special edition - Snowdonia Cheddar Pate with Welsh Ale and Chives!! Sounds yummy!!!
The shop now has a new dedicated phone line and so we have had new order information printed - so if you fancy ordering some fresh fish, bread, or anything else we stock, please collect a leaflet in store.
By the way the new phone number is 01484 598050 - give us a ring!!!!
See you in the shop on Friday morning!!

Patchwork Pate
Patchwork Pate is one of my favourite food discoveries. I was introduced to it many years ago at Czerwik's cheese and wine shop in Brighouse (a real emporium of delicious treats and fine wines) and have been buying it ever since. Patchwork is based in Ruthin in North Wales, so it's not quite local but is a proper, traditional firm, started by Margaret Carter in her own kitchen. They now have 30 employees and a democratic approach and a range of superb, top quality products. Not long ago they had their labels re-designed (as above) and when you put them all together they make a fantastic, massive, colourful picture of a village with gardens, houses, a river etc. It's nothing short of beautiful - but you'd have to buy a lot of pates to make the picture!
I should mention here that we at the Green Valley Grocer stock all the above fish and veggie versions, and sometimes the special edition Chocolate Terrines too, but also that you can get Patchwork's meat pates from Grange's butchers here in Slaithwaite - being a carnivore, my favourite is the fiery Welsh Dragon pate that has venison and chilli in it.
